Melvin Ejim set nine Big 12 records on Saturday.
Perfection, in sports, and especially in basketball is tough to achieve.
In the case of Melvin Ejim, he came about as close as you can, scoring 48 points in Iowa State's 84-69 win against TCU.
In total, Ejim set nine Big 12 records, including points (48) and field goals made (20). He only took 24 shots in the game.
The senior also scored 33 of his 48 in the second half, which included a span of 20 straight points for the Cyclones.
"What can you say? Just the efficiency of his game scoring 48 points on 24 shots, 20 of 24," Head Coach Fred Hoiberg said. "In a game like this, you had to have them. It's not like it's a blowout and he's getting garbage baskets."
"I'd say teamwork," Ejim said after the game. "These guys did a great job of finding me in transition and giving me the ball in places I can score. They made really selfless plays."
It's a quick turnaround for the Cyclones. They'll play West Virginia on Monday.
