NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV)- A Siouxland school district is looking to fill a new vacancy on its Board of Education.
The Norfolk School Board accepted the resignation of long-time board member Julee Pfeil, Monday evening.
Pfeil was first elected in 1996, and said she was stepping down to spend more time running her after-school program "The Zone", which serves students of the Norfolk School District.
Pfeil said she would always treasure her time on the board and the relationships she developed with fellow board members. "You build a relationship," said Pfeil. "You go through things that not everyone will understand because you get information and decisions to make for the district and you do. So, you become very close to the people you work with."
Norfolk School officials say they will be accepting applications for Pfeil's replacement until March 3rd. However, since it's an election year, anyone who wants to be re-elected to the post only has until next Tuesday to file with the Madison County Clerk.
