Adopt a Valentine at the Siouxland Humane Society

SIOUX CITY (KTIV)- If you don't have a special someone, one Siouxland organization says they have a Valentine waiting just for you.

The Siouxland Humane Society says taking a pet home for the holiday will promise you unconditional love.

They say adopting a pet to love on Valentines Day is calorie free, and you can go home knowing that you saved a life.

"It's something to go home to. And they truly are the best kind of Valentine, the best kind of gift you can give yourself. But not only that, you're giving them the gift of life," LaVon Stroh, Development Director at the Siouxland Humane Society said.

Stroh says their older pets, while not always the first choice, are a great option to take home.

She says they're usually dropped off at the shelter because their owners could no longer care for them, meaning the animals are well trained and looking for someone to love this Valentine's Day, too.

"These animals are not here because they did something wrong, they're here because their circumstances changed. On Valentines Day, we want to celebrate the love that these animals can give you, and the love that is just waiting here in our building for you to take home," Stroh said.

The Siouxland Humane Society will be open on Valentine's Day from ten to five, and all weekend long as well.

They have three older well-trained cats looking for a home, and a few mature dogs.
