Students learn about agriculture opportunities

EARLY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Students at a Siouxland school take a break from their books to learn more about opportunities in agriculture.

This is the second year that the Sac County Farm Bureau has sponsored Agriculture Day at this school.

Over a dozen volunteer presenters shared their ag careers and experiences to the students of Ridge View Middle School.

The students learned about the growing field of ag technology, surveying, and conservation to name a few.

When thinking of agriculture you may not think of shrimp.

"Today has been fun. A lot of kids have never seen shrimp. So, to see them in the tubs swimming around, they're really excited," said Keely Dutler, the owner of Shrimp 59.

"It's a little different than what I am used to. I usually just see cows and that kind of stuff so it's pretty new," said Ezra Miller, 7th Grade Student.

Students were also allowed to hold a corn snake which was part of the conservation segment.
