Authorities say 2 Iowa children have died after their car was hit by a train


ALTA, Iowa (KTIV) - Tragic news Friday afternoon, after police say a car was hit by a train in Alta, Iowa.

Authorities say two passengers in that car have died at a Sioux Falls, South Dakota hospital.

They've been identified as 2-year-old Camille Binder and 4-year-old Chloe Binder.

Also hurt in the accident, 37-year-old Heather Binder.

She's at a Sioux Falls hospital.

The accident happened Thursday afternoon at the railroad crossing on Main Street.

Authorities say 15-year-old Nathaniel Harmes didn't see the oncoming train as it entered the crossing.

He was treated at a Storm Lake, Iowa hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
