Construction work on track for new preschool in Sioux Center, IA

Work is underway for the new preschool. Work is underway for the new preschool.

It's been a few months since ground was broken for a new preschool in Sioux Center, Iowa.

The site, which is located next to an already existing preschool, will hold about 180 students once it's completed.

Sioux Center Community Schools superintendent Pat O'Donnell said the goal is to make sure every 4-year-old in their town can attend preschool. That way, all kids are on the same playing field when they enter kindergarten.

O'Donnell said construction on the new building is right on track.

"I think they've been very diligent about their work over there and the progress. The weather hasn't cooperated fully with them. It's been really cold, but I know that even in those cold conditions, they set up barriers so that they could get some work done," O'Donnell said.

With spring quickly approaching and warmer temps coming, O'Donnell said construction workers will be able to work even faster.

He expects the building to be complete by next January.
