Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg says the Cyclones have to slow down Texas' "bigs" on Tuesday night.
AMES, Iowa (KTIV) -
Iowa State is home on Tuesday, trying to avenge a road loss to Texas a month ago. The Longhorns are in second place in the Big 12.
In their first meeting, ISU built a 9-point lead in the first half and were tied at halftime. The Cyclones out-rebounded the Longhorns by ten in the first half but also committed a season-high 18 turnovers.
Texas' big men, 6'8" Jonathon Holmes and 6'9" Cameron Ridley combined for 39 points and 18 rebounds. If that happens again, the Cyclones are in trouble.
"You've got to slow then down and try to contain their bigs and make it tough on them on the inside to score," said ISU head coach Fred Hoiberg. "They're a team that hurts you from all areas. It's an excellent basketball team. They're very well coached and we're going to have to play extremely hard if we're going to have a chance to win this one."
That's a six o'clock game Tuesday on ESPN 2.
