Relay For Life kicks off with prep meeting

No matter where you live in Siouxland, you may have been touched by cancer.

It's the number one cause of death in Iowa and South Dakota, and the number two cause of death in Nebraska. But, you can help find a cure by simply putting one foot in front of the other.

Captains for this year's "Relay For Life" gathered at the Sioux City Public Museum to get a jump start. This year's theme is "Carnival of Hope" and organizers even tested out some of the games.

It can be a lot of fun, but the goal is very serious, funding research to cure cancer.

"Every single person benefits when we research cancer in order to eliminate cancer," said Ann Hoeppner, Relay Specialist.

"Relay for Life" takes place at Bishop Heelan's Memorial Field, Friday June 13th, from six until midnight. They're still looking for volunteers.
