Police say Storm Lake, IA man faces charges after trying to buy guns from undercover officer


STORM LAKE, Iowa (KTIV) A Storm Lake, Iowa man faces charges after police say he tried to buy guns through Facebook.

21 year-old William Kurtz is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and acquiring a pistol without a permit.

Police say Kurtz tried to exchange an AR 15 assault rifle for a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun by an undercover officer.  They say Kurtz also gave the undercover officer money as a down payment for another handgun.

After a search of Kurtz's home, police found a second assault rifle, ammunition and rifle equipment.
