SIOUX CENTER, Iowa (KTIV) -
Kinsey Elementary School in Sioux Center, Iowa has seen a jump in student population since 2003.
Back then, they had about 350 students.
Today, the school's enrollment is up to 500.
The school had some construction work done several years ago, but school officials said plans to expand even more are underway. "It's created a space issue that we thought we wouldn't have after our last addition. We didn't think we'd have that need so quickly, yet it's a nice problem to have, where you have an increasing student population," Superintendent Pat O'Donnell said.
To remedy the space issue, 6 classrooms will be added on to part of the building.
And, certain areas of the school will get a major remodel that will include new energy efficient windows and replacing the heating and cooling units.
