Norfolk Nebraska Trail Advisory Board approves new trail routes

Residents in Norfolk who like to bike, walk or jog may soon have some new options available to them.

The Norfolk Nebraska Trail Advisory Board recently approved two new routes for trails to be built around town.  The trails would be built off of existing trails in town.

One would run along the North Fork of the Elkhorn River on the east edge of town and lead to Veterans Memorial Park, while a second trial will be built along the North Fork near Norfolk Senior High School.

The trails would be connected via a loop that would utilize an existing bridge over the river.

Council officials said the idea is to give people more access to the already existing trails in Norfolk and to the Veterans Memorial Park.  The council said they hope to have the new trails ready to go by the end of this year.
