WAYNE, Neb. - Students and staff at Wayne State College honored a Wildcat football player, who died in his dorm room a little over a week ago.

The memorial for Eddie Key III took place Wednesday night at  Memorial Stadium in Wayne.

Students, coaches and teammates took part in the ceremony and released balloons in Key's memory.

Officials say the 18 year-old Key died of pulmonary edema as a result of bacterial pneumonia of the lungs.

He played defensive end for the Wildcats.
