Westside Coalition works to beautify the neighborhood
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - Sioux City's westside coalition has seen a positive response over the past month.
Thursday night the group worked on beautifying the neighborhood.
They discussed clearing the alleys of tires and mattresses.
Police say taking care of the quality of life concerns, then crime issues will take care of themselves.
"So when people see that, yes progress can happen, that we can take care of these issues, but it takes involvement of people to do that, then that kind of has a snowball effect and it starts to widen and more people become involved," said Sergeant Kevin Heineman, Sioux City Police.
The group also talked about other ways to meet neighbors.
Ideas were possibly adding a community garden or doing an easter egg hunt.
