SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) Officials are investigating the cause of a fire on a Sioux City college campus.
Fire fighters were called to Western Iowa Tech Community College around 10 o'clock Monday morning. When crews arrived at 5001 East Gordon Drive, flames were coming from the filtration system on the WIT Transportation Center building.
Crews were able to put out the fire.
"It appears now that the fire was contained to the filtration system. It burned up some of the filters in there, but it doesn't look like it will be terribly expensive to replace or fix," said Acting Assistant Fire Chief, Kelly Hansen.
The building is home to WIT's auto technologies, construction and welding programs.
Students were in the building at the time, but were able to make it out safely.
