Rates to go up for students at Northeast Community College

NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) Room and board rates will increase next year for students of one Siouxland college.

The Northeast Community College Board of Governors, last week, approved in increase in both the dorm rents and meal plans for the 2014-2015 school year.

NECC Vice-President of Administrative Services Lynne Koski said that the board did take a number of future maintenance needs into account when calculating the increase.

"This year as well, we're considering what do we need in the future to upgrade our current facilities. We know we need to replace the roof on Simon Hall and those kind of things," said Lynne Koski, NECC Vice-President of Administrative Services.

Students will pay between $1825 and $1950 for on campus housing beginning in the 2014-2015 school year.  Meal plans will also range from $425 - $455 a semester.  Koski said that overall the increase is roughly $4 a day.
