Future business leaders "swim with the sharks"

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Some people were swimming with the sharks in Sioux City Tuesday night.

We're not talking about real sharks but a competition for future business owners.

Eight finalists pitched ideas at Briar Cliff University's St. Francis Center for a chance to get part of a $5,400 grant

Their creations included phone caps, to soap, to doggie physical therapy.

A panel of local judges will decide how that money will be distributed.

"We're looking for businesses that we think are viable. That have an opportunity to make it. And that they had a good use of the money, they had a clear idea of what they would use the money for," said Judy Thompson, Briar Cliff Business Administrator Professor.

The event is part of a week long "Entrepalooza", which includes an innovation market on Thursday night.

It's a chance for young professionals to show off their business ideas.
