Safety addressed at Crescent Park coalition meeting
A month after a deadly shooting on West 27th street, Sioux City's Crescent Park neighborhood joined forces once again.
Members of the Neighborhood Network say the mood's changed. People living in the area say they no longer feel scared or intimidated.
Thursday night, Sioux City Police told the group about their neighborhood watch program called "Safety Up."
"That's what we're trying to encourage is, just that neighbor to neighbor contact. It needs to come back. And we've always been around elementary schools, and that's kind of been our life line," said Judy Darwin, Neighborhood Network Membership Coordinator.
And, that's not the only way authorities say the community can stay safe. The fire marshall talked about the importance of smoke detectors and have an escape route for your home.
