Police urge caution on Sioux City streets

Posted:
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Snow was falling steadily in downtown Sioux City all day on Saturday.  The continuous snow fall and low temperatures are creating a hazard out on the roads.

If you were out there, you probably saw a few cars swerving here and there.  Sioux City police say they've responded to several fender benders.

The compacted snow on the roads is slick.

However, after a shortage of snow this winter, the plows drivers are glad to be back in business.

"I was kind of excited. I've been waiting for some snow. I always depend on the snow. I enjoy doing it," Snow Plow Driver Chris Bray

Sioux City Police have a few tips for drivers in case you have to go out.  They suggest leaving extra time to get to where you're going and leave extra space between you and the vehicle in front of you.  Police also remind drivers that bridges, overpasses, and intersections typically ice over, so be cautious.
