Sioux City kids meet the Cat in the Hat

About 100 youngsters from around our area had the chance to celebrate the birthday of a legend: Dr. Seuss.

The Sioux City Public Library hosted a special story time dedicated to the author, Saturday.

Along with reading books, kids also got to visit with the the Cat in the Hat in person and play games.

Librarians say this celebration is a great chance to share the joy of reading with kids.

"The Dr. Seuss books are so fun. They're colorful and exciting, and they show kids that reading is fun. And, that's kind of our goal too, to show families that the library is a fun place to come," Library Assistant Carol Harder said.

The event was free for families.  The library is already working on their next themed "family story time," which will be focused around springtime.
