Stampede hand Muskies third straight loss

Sioux City has now lost three straight. Sioux City has now lost three straight.

Kyle Schmidt scored twice, but it wasn't enough as the Sioux City Musketeers dropped their third straight game, 3-2, to their I-29 rivals from Sioux Falls.

After several spectacular saves from both goalies, the Stampede broke through on Dennis Kravchenko's power play goal midway through the opening period.

Five minutes later, after sending the puck into the Stampede zone, Cedric Lacroix shot back a centering pass to Kyle Schmidt, who buried it past Arthur Brey to tie the game one.

It didn't take long for Sioux Falls to regain control after that.

With Sioux City on a power play, the Stampede broke loose for a 3-on-1 short handed opportunity.

Dakota Joshua shot over the shoulder of Kyle Hayton to give the Stampede a 2-1 lead after one period.

Christian Horn scored the third goal of the game for the Stampede.

Sioux City returns to the ice on Thursday, March 4, against Lincoln.
