A 62-year old Bristow, Nebraska man is in jail, accused of shooting at a car and leading sheriff's deputies on a high-speed chase, threatening one of them with a shotgun in the process.

Charges are pending against Edward Howell.

It started just before 11:00 Friday night when a driver called 911 saying someone had shot at his car on Highway 11 north of Atkinson.

Boyd County Sheriff's deputies tried to stop a car matching the description of the suspect vehicle.

A chase reaching speeds of 90 miles per hour ensued.

At one point, authorities say the driver stopped, got out of the car, and pointed a shotgun at a deputy.

The Holt County Sheriff's Office joined the chase, which eventually ended when the car being pursued went through a gate and across a cornfield.

The vehicle came to a stop and Howell was arrested.
