NEAR YANKTON, S.D. (KTIV) - Authorities say they were called at about 9:30 Monday morning to the structure fire nine miles west of Yankton, South Dakota on Highway 50.

When authorities arrived they say their was fire coming out of the second floor.

Deputy Fire Chief Larry Nickles says the residents were working on a car in their garage when kerosene caught fire and quickly spread.

Nickles says the residents tried to fight the fire, but didn't have access to water because of frozen pipes.

They made it out with no injuries.

The fire department fought the fire for four and a half hours from the outside because the structure was unstable.
