Armed incident at Northeast Community College

NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) - Authorities in Madison County, Nebraska, are investigating an incident involving an armed man on the campus of Northeast Community College in Norfolk.

Three Northeast students were in the parking lot of the campus's Utility Line building just after noon Monday when the armed man confronted the students.

Northeast's public relations director says no one was hurt, and students and faculty members were notified of the news through the college's R.A.V.E. alert system.

Jim Curry, NCC Public Relations Director said, "What it basically is, is a text voice mail and email system to notify everyone on campus that signs up that maybe somethings going on. We did use this, well there are multiple ways, but this was the main way we notified campus."

Jim Curry says the main purpose of the alert system is to notify students of bad weather.

The Madison County Sheriff says investigators are looking for a late 90's or early 2000's green Pontiac Grand Prix.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Madison County Sheriff's Department at (402) 454-2110.
