Branstad, Durham focus on Iowa economic development efforts

Sioux City business leaders had lunch with the governor. Terry Branstad and Iowa's Economic Development Authority Director Debi Durham were guests at the Siouxland Industrial Roundtable Luncheon on Monday. Branstad said he's well on his way to achieving his goal of creating 200,000 jobs in Iowa. To date, he said 130,000 jobs have been created since he was elected in 2010.

Fire leaves 30 apartment residents out in the cold

Investigators hope to begin trying to determine the cause of Monday's fire at Glen Oaks Apartments in Sioux City. Thirty people were displaced by the blaze that broke out in the pre-dawn hours. Twelve units in one of the buildings were destroyed and 12 other units in the building were protected by a fire wall and sustained minor smoke and water damage. People who live in those apartments should be able to get back in.

Armed incident at Northeast Community College

Authorities are investigating an incident involving an armed man in the parking lot at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska. Three students said the man confronted them Monday afternoon, then drove off. The Madison County Sheriff said investigators are looking for a late 90's or early 2000's green Pontiac Grand Prix.

National Pancake Day

Tuesday is National Pancake Day, a celebration that benefits the Children's Miracle Network. If you go to IHOP in Sioux City Tuesday, you'll get a free short stack of their famous buttermilk pancakes. They're hoping you'll donate the money you save to Children's Miracle Network. All funds raised will help support children's health services at UnityPoint Health - St. Luke's in Sioux City.
