State environmental officials are considering action against a Hull, Iowa, cheese processing plant after a storage tank overflowed causing thousands of gallons of sludge to run into a nearby stream.
The incident happened at Agropur when an alarm failed, Tuesday morning.
The sludge flooded the company's wastewater treatment building before 2,100 gallons of the sludge flowed about three-eighths of a mile downstream.
The sludge stopped a few miles upstream of the West Branch of the Floyd River.
