SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Woodbury County opened up their candidate filing period for those up for re-election this week.

And, current supervisor David Tripp was the first to file for another term.

At the end of January, Tripp faced charges of domestic abuse after authorities say he fired a gun into the air near his wife.

Tripp has been sitting on the board for weeks since the disturbance.

A pre-trial date has been set for May 19th.

The "candidate filing period" is open until March 26th.
