IRGC hearing on denial of Argosy Casino license extension will continue Thursday

There will be more discussion Thursday at a public hearing of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission on its decision not to renew the gaming license for the Argosy Casino. The license was later granted to the developer of the Hard Rock Casino. On Wednesday, lawyers representing the Argosy and the state of Iowa presented their cases to the IRGC. The hearing reconvenes Thursday afternoon in Altoona.

Two teens face charges after police say they robbed a Sioux City convenience store

Two 15-year-old boys are charged with "robbery" and "going armed with intent" after police said they robbed a Sioux City convenience store. On February 20th, police said one of the teens went into the Kum & Go on 2626 Court Street with a large knife. Once inside, police said he threatened the clerk. The second suspect stayed outside as a look out. Both left on foot. The two are being charged as juveniles, so News 4 has chosen not to release their names.

State lawmakers are talking marijuana and minimum wage

Patients and medical experts in Iowa spoke to lawmakers about what they say are the benefits of medical marijuana. They said medical marijuana can ease the side effects of drugs already taken, or in ways other drugs cannot. Despite Wednesday's testimony, even lawmakers who support medical marijuana legislation acknowledge it won't pass this session. Some lawmakers are hopeful the issue may come up again next year.

Ho-Chunk Centre expands in Sioux City

The Ho-Chunk Center in downtown Sioux City is expanding and remodeling. The ribbon was cut Wednesday for Blue Earth Marketing, a subsidiary of Ho-Chunk Inc. Blue Earth serves seven states and other countries. They're also adding an art gallery they hope to have open by the end of the month. Ho-Chunk has plans to renovate the atrium and first floor of the center, and they'll open a new cafe next week.
