SNL's Colin Jost is settling in to his new position behind the anchor desk

(NBC) "Saturday Night Live" has been a mainstay of late night television for 39 years, but lately the show has had a lot of turnover.

Eleven of the 17 current cast member have been on the show for less than two years, and now there's a new face behind the Weekend Update desk.

Colin Jost has joined Cecily Strong as Weekend Update's new co-host.

Strong herself has been part of Weekend Update for only 14 episodes, and was reluctant to hand out advice to the newest newcomer.

"I wouldn't trust myself to show him the ropes yet, so don't do what I do," she laughs.

Jost made his on-camera debut last week, but he's been writing sketches for the show since 2005.

Jost was named head writer of SNL in 2012, and says he does not expect his promotion to the anchor desk to cause any ripples.

"It's a format that generally has worked pretty well for now, 150 years?," he jokes, "So I feel like we don't want to mess with it too much."
