Iowa Community Hospital pays big fine in discrimination settlement

SIBLEY, Iowa (KTIV)- The Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa is paying $75,000 to settle a discrimination lawsuit.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleged a daycare operated by the hospital didn't make a volunteer into a paid employee because of her cerebral palsy.

The EEOC's investigation found the county refused to hire her because they thought her disability meant she could not safely care for the children.

The alleged refusal violates the Americans with Disabilities Act
