SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The only American judo player to ever win a world championship shares some of the secrets to her success, right here in Sioux City.
Dr. Ann De Mars was a guest clinician at the "Fight Like a World Champion" judo clinic at Briar Cliff.
The Sioux City Judo Club hosted the event to raise money for their student members who are hoping to compete at nationals this year.
Dr. De Mars said she loves teaching at these clinics because she believes judo is so beneficial to every participant.
"In judo, the more you practice the better you get. And I think that showed me at an early age, that if I just didn't give up, whether it was math or computer programming or starting a business, that it gets better and better and better the more you put into it," Dr. AnnMarie De Mars, World Champion Judo Player said.
Members of the Sioux City Judo Club said they're still training hard for the 2014 USA Judo Junior Olympic Championships this summer in Irving, Texas.
