Three people are in the running to fill a vacancy on a Siouxland school board

A Siouxland school board vacancy will be filled Monday night and the person selected will then have to immediately begin campaigning for re-election this year.

The Norfolk School Board will be interviewing three finalists for their open seat Monday night. The vacancy was created when previous board member, Julee Pfeil, resigned to focus more time on the after-school program she runs in Norfolk. Three finalists are listed on Monday's agenda. They are Tammy Day, Linnea Gettman and Justin Young.

According to the agenda, the board will be interviewing each of the candidates and selecting the new board member at Monday's meeting. The vacant seat is also up for election this year, which means whoever is selected Monday immediately becomes an incumbent in the May Primary.

All three finalists have filed for election and met the incumbent deadline, which means no matter what happens tonight, they'll all still have a chance to be elected to the board this year. Monday's School Board meeting begins at 5:30 p.m.
