What's Trending: 22-pound house cat holds family hostage

The cat's name is Lux..

The Himilayan looks harmless here, but his owners say he has a history of violent behavior.

The first thing 9-1-1 operators did was confirm the baby did not need any medical attention, then they dispatched officers to contain the cat.

One of them grabbed a dog snare and when police arrived, the family was too afraid to come out of the bedroom to let them in.

Once inside, officers were able to snare Lux, and put him behind bars, in a crate.

But for several minutes, the family says it was tense.
