Colorado officer struck by stolen minivan in dramatic high-speed chase


(NBC News) A 4-year-old Colorado boy is safe following a terrifying ordeal that began with a carjacking in Longmont, Colorado Wednesday morning.

It began when a man took an SUV left running in the parking lot of a gas station. The boy had been left in the backseat while his mother went in to pay.

After a nearly 30-minute high speed chase the driver forced another minivan to the side of the road, then took that vehicle, leaving the boy behind.

While driving the second vehicle the driver struck and seriously injured a Colorado State Trooper on the side of the Interstate, but kept going.
