SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Whether or not you're Irish, St. Patrick's Day weekend could still bring you luck.

To kick off the St. Patrick's Day celebrations, crowds gathered in downtown Sioux City for a parade.

People of all ages came out to join in on the fun.

Sioux City Stampede Football, local bars, and the fire department all took part in the parade.

Parade goers said it's hard to choose their favorite part of the festivities.

"I think all the floats, and the people on the streets and the kids all dressed up, it's just fantastic," Debbie McNaughton, of Sioux City, said.

"All the candy, for sure. And, having the power of this jacket, directing traffic, it's always fun. The power goes right to my head," Ben Hunnel, of Sioux City, said.

Many in the crowd say the parade is just the beginning of their St. Patty's Day celebrations.
