The Panthers hoist their trophy late Saturday night.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KTIV) -
Bancroft-Rosalie won it's first state title, defeating High Plains 62-47 to claim the Nebraska Class D2 Championship Saturday night in Lincoln.
Preston Peters led the way for the Panthers scoring 14 points.
In total, four players reached double-figures for Bancroft-Rosalie.
The school last made an appearance in the tournament in 1999 and finished as the runner-up in Class D1 in 1998.
This year's championship has been a long time coming.
"I can't even explain how good it feels," Head Coach Mike Sjuts said. "It's just quite the feeling. I'm really just happy for this group of kids. They've been working really well for us and some of these kids have been doing it for years."
"It hasn't really sunk in yet," senior Drew Zitek said. "It's bitter sweet to be honest because it's my last game as a high schooler, but there's no better way to end it than winning state."
The Panthers end the season with a 26-4 record.
