Sioux City man charged with impersonating a police officer in attempted abductions

Sioux City police have made an arrest connected to three attempted abductions, in Sioux City, over the last year and a half.

Police say 29-year-old Joey Miguel Alberts, of Sioux City, pretended to be a police officer to try and get kids into his vehicle.

He's charged with three counts of impersonating a police officer, three counts of enticing a child away, and two counts of indecent contact with a child.

During an incident, in the 2000 block Court Street, on October 20th, 2013, police say Alberts allegedly tried to lure an 11 and 13-year-old girl into his SUV. Investigators say Alberts reached out and fondled one of the girls before they were able to run away.

Police also accuse Alberts of a similar act, involving a 12 and 13-year-old girl, near the intersection of 9th and Jennings Streets on November 6th, 2012. They also say Alberts was involved in an incident involving a 13-year-old girl in the 1500 block of Jennings Street a short time later.
