Organizers decorate luminary bags for Relay For Life

The Relay For Life isn't until June, but organizers got a head start Monday night.

The Sioux City group met at Caribou Coffee to start decorating luminary bags for the event. The bags will light up the track at Bishop Heelan's Memorial Field on Friday, June 13th. The event benefits the American Cancer Society fight against cancer. "We really enjoy being part of our neighborhood and being out in our community and being involved as much as we can cause it's all about our guests and wanting to take an interest in what they are doing and making their lives better for them," said Jennifer Anderson, Caribou Store Manager. "To make one for someone that has lost their fight is very emotional. And someone that is still fighting, you want to push them along, let them know that we're thinking of them," said Candy Comstock, Relay For Life Luminary Chair.

The luminary bags are a way to honor a loved one fighting cancer or remember those who lost the battle. The group will meet every third Monday of the month to decorate bags, anyone is welcomed to join.
