At least two dead after KOMO helicopter crashes onto cars near Seattle television station

(NBC News)  At least two people are dead after a news helicopter crashed in Seattle Tuesday morning.

The helicopter, operated by CBS affiliate KOMO-TV, slammed into the ground on a busy street not far from the city's famous Space Needle.

"When he went to take back off the sound of the helicopter changed drastically, and I looked and the helicopter was almost immediately pitched off and off balance, and it kind of nosed over trees and clipped the tops of the trees and crashed just on the other side of the street there," said witness Bo Bain.

A 38-year-old man who was in one of the cars hit by the helicopter is hospitalized in critical condition.
