DANBURY, Iowa (KTIV) - As a Siouxland child battles a rare tumor, her community gathers on her behalf.

Four-year-old Kylee Doty of Danbury, Iowa began her second round of chemotherapy in Rochester, Minn. Saturday.

While she fights, her community held a fundraiser on her behalf.

A supper and auction was held at Danbury Catholic School Saturday to help offset the rising cost of the family's medical bills.

The outpouring of support from the community on Kylee's behalf has been comforting for the Doty family during this difficult time.

"It's a wonderful thing," said Kylee's father Jeremy. "Everybody gets together and pulls together in a small town to help out Kylee. It makes us feel very happy, very loved and cared for."

The fundraiser was put on by Danbury Ambulance Service, for which both of Kylee's parents volunteer.

The group temporarily abandoned its plans to raise money for a new rig when Kylee's condition was diagnosed.

Her mother Megan works at Sioux City's Mercy Medical Center, and three of her colleagues flew in on a helicopter to show their support.

"We're interactive with the community," said flight paramedic Kevin Handke. "Especially with these special situations like this with Kylee, and then the fact that Danbury is making changes as far as withholding getting a new ambulance to help out the family here."

There was both a silent and live auction at tonight's fundraiser and a spread of soups, sloppy joes and desserts.
