South Sioux City business leaders head to the state capital

Lawmakers in Lincoln hear from northeast Nebraska. Thirty-five business leaders from South Sioux City traveled to the legislature to lobby senators on projects back home. Among other priorities, the Siouxland group made a pitch for more state aid for schools. The South Sioux City Chamber, which organized the trip, said it helps community leaders realize that their voices do matter.

Outgoing Iowa GOP chairman backs medical marijuana

It's been declared dead in this year's session, but some Iowa lawmakers continue a push to legalize medical marijuana. On Monday, a senator from Iowa City invited current and former Iowans to the statehouse to share their stories. Some said they moved away to get medical marijuana in other states. Governor Branstad has said he fears there would be unintended consequences if it were legalized.

Senate candidate Sam Clovis campaigns in Siouxland

Sam Clovis campaigns close to home. The Morningside College professor and Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Iowa spoke to the Rushmore PAC on Monday. That's a group that has supported several GOP candidates in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. Clovis is one of five Republicans seeking the U.S. Senate seat of Democrat Tom Harkin, who is retiring.

A Siouxland restaurant is named in the "Top Ten for Iowa's Best Burger Contest"

A burger served up by an Arnolds Park restaurant is back in the top ten. The "Lue Burger" at The Ritz has made the final cut in the annual "Best Burger in Iowa" contest. The Lue was also a top-ten finalist in 2012. It's a simple recipe with two pieces of cheese, onions, bacon and 1/3 pound beef patty. Judges will evaluate the burgers on taste, appearance and serving temperature, then the winner will be announced.
