One Siouxland jail is requesting an upgrade to its security system
MADISON, Neb. (KTIV/US92) - Some Siouxland lawmakers are getting an idea of what kinds of upgrades are needed in their county jail.
Jail administrators met with the Madison County Board of Commissioners in Madison, Nebraska Tuesday morning. The board heard a report on the county jail's security system, which jail administrators said needs to be upgraded.
Among the changes that need to be made are upgrades to the analog systems that run the doors and the lights in the jail. County Commissioners okayed administrators to put the upgrades out to bid, with the hopes of including the project in their next fiscal budget.
Cost estimates are pretty rough given that this is still in the initial phase, but county officials estimate the security upgrades would cost anywhere from $110,000 to $180,000.
