Dakota City, NE business named Nebraska's "Small Business of the Year"

DAKOTA CITY, Neb. (KTIV) -

Nebraska's Small Business Administration has honored a Siouxland business as the state's Small Business of the Year.

A family-owned business, Cardinal Farms, out of Dakota City was awarded the title. Cardinal Farms develops crops on 1,400 acres and also has a $1-million fresh fish production facility. The company employs six full-time and six seasonal employees.

Farm owner Doug Garwood will attend National Small Business Week in Washington, D.C., and will compete against candidates from all 50 states and territories for selection as the SBA's National Small Business Person of the Year.
