Le Mars, Iowa firefighters respond to a house fire

LE MARS, Iowa (KTIV) -A home in Le Mars, Iowa was heavily damaged, following a fire Thursday afternoon.  The fire broke out around noon at 44 5th Avenue SE. However, officials believe it started a few hours before the call.

They say it started in the basement and moved to the attic.

No one was home at the time of the fire.  However, officials say one dog died and a cat is unaccounted for.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
