Le Mars, Iowa firefighters respond to a house fire

Investigators are trying to determine what started a fire that heavily damaged a home in Le Mars, Iowa on Thursday. It was reported around noon at 44 5th Avenue Southeast, but officials believe it actually started a few hours before the call. They said it started in the basement and moved to the attic. No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

Judge allows most of BPI defamation claim against ABC News to go to trial

A circuit judge has refused to throw out the $1.2 billion defamation lawsuit filed by Beef Products, Incorporated against ABC News. Judge Cheryle Gering dismissed some claims Thursday, but allowed most to go forward. The Dakota Dunes based company is suing ABC, saying the news coverage of its lean, finely textured beef misled consumers into thinking it was unsafe and led to the closure of three plants and 700 layoffs.

The Children's Museum of Siouxland receives $250,000 donation from Tyson Foods

A big boost for the Children's Museum of Siouxland. Tyson Foods presented a check for $250,000 to the museum on Thursday. The money will go toward an agriculture exhibit that teaches kids how food gets from the farm to their plate. The museum has a total fundraising goal of $6 million. If the goal is reached, construction could start this summer.
