Sioux City celebrates National Doctors' Day

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Siouxland physicians are getting some recognition.

Mayor Bob Scott declared Friday, March 28, as National Doctors' Day in Sioux City. Mercy Medical Center's Chief medical officer, along with other staff members, were recognized for their hard work and dedication. Mayor Scott said the new holiday is an opportunity for everyone to thank the men and women who work hard to keep us living healthy.

"We salute our doctors for the work they do to bring healing to our families and friends. Now, therefore I, Robert E. Scott mayor of the city of Sioux City, Iowa and behalf of the city council do hereby proclaim Friday, March 28, 2014 as National Doctor's Day in Sioux City and encourage all Americans to observe this day," said Mayor Scott.

Mayor Scott also took time to thank Mercy Medical Center CEO, Bob Peebles, who's celebrating his retirement Friday.
