Iowa state board to hear appeal over Sioux County's budget


ORANGE CITY, Iowa (KTIV) A state appeals board will hear arguments after a petition is filed challenging Sioux County's approved 2014-2015 budget.

The New Broom Society of Siouxland filed the petition.

100 signatures were needed for the appeal, and the group got 113.

The New Broom Society says the county is proposing raising taxes by $700,000 and spending almost $4M.

A private audit was done on the county's finances.

The Sioux County auditor says the report did not indicate any issues.

A three member panel from the state appeals board will hear from both the public and the county

A date has not yet been set.
