Muskies top Stampede 2-1

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KTIV) - Joel LEsperance broke a 1-1 stalemate with 12 minutes to play in the third period, lifting Sioux City to a 2-1 win over Sioux Falls Friday night.

The victory is the Muskies third straight.

It was an important win for Sioux City as they moved to within three points of second place Omaha.  The Lancers entered the night four points a head of the Musketeers, but lost in a shootout to Muskegon.

Kyle Hayton faced continuous pressures in the crease, facing 42 shots.

Kyle Schmidt tied the game at 1-1 with a goal at the 14:59 mark of the second period.

Sioux City returns to the ice Sunday to face Tri-City. The puck drops at 5 p.m. at the Tyson Events Center.
