Candidate for governor visits with voters in Norfolk, Nebraska

NORFOLK, Neb. (US92/KTIV) - Nebraska's May primary election is less than two months, and candidates seeking the republican nomination are crossing the state to meet with potential voters.

Candidate for governor Jon Bruning met with voters in Norfolk, Nebraska Friday.

Bruning said that his 18-years of experience in the state capital sets him apart from the pack.

Bruning say, "If you're going to hire a football coach you want somebody who's been coaching football. If you're going to hire a governor you want somebody who understands how to get around state government. You can bring somebody in who's never spent any time in the capitol, I think that's a pretty high risk strategy in a state that's ran as well run as ours. I know what Governor Heineman and Governor Johanns have been doing to make this a well run state."

Bruning said some of the key issues for the state are tax reform, illegal immigration and pushing back against federal over reach.
