Northwest Iowans head to the polls in two school districts

SCHLESWIG, Iowa (KTIV) - Voters head to the polls in the Schleswig, Iowa Community School District on Tuesday.

They'll be asked to approve a $4,250,000 bond to build a new gym.

The money would be used for fitness and storage areas.
It will also include money for a walking trail, and parking spaces.
Polls again are open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, voters in the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn school district face some big issues when they head to the polls in northwest Iowa on Tuesday.

They'll be faced with two questions.
The first is a $17,500,000 dollar bond vote.

The money will be used to improve school sites in Sanborn and Hartley.
School officials plan to convert the Sanborn middle school into an elementary school, expand the existing Hartley high school and combine it with the middle school.  Plus, close the existing elementary building in Hartley.

The second measure would raise the levy to help pay the principal and interest on the $17,500,000 bond.

Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
