Woodbury Co. Board approves increased manpower on certain county roads

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

A major project for Woodbury County has had some bumps in the road, literally.

225th Street, 235th Street, and Allison Avenue all lead into CF Industries. These gravel roads are heavily traveled and a major concern to the county, especially now, because frost is coming out of the roads making them more unstable for drivers.

The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors spoke with the County Engineer Mark Nahra on Tuesday about how there is a need for upkeep on the roads and gave him the go-ahead to use more manpower to fix the roads.

"Spring thaw is beginning. We do have some problems out there on the roads. Rural areas of Iowa have seen this happen year after year. This year is no different," Nahra said.

Nahra said he's concerned about how much up keep these roads will need because it could take a hit on his budget by having workers out there on the weekend, using overtime money.

He will go before the board again to see if he can secure more funding for his department.
